I love chocolate through and through. I often say that if it doesn’t have chocolate it isn’t dessert :) So when I started leading the RESTART Program, I wanted to find a recipe that incorporated chocolate without any added sugar – a tall order. I landed on this simple and surprisingly decadent Creamy Cocoa Mix.
This can be eaten as a snack with apples, or on its own with a spoon (my preferred choice). It could also be used as a pre/post-workout snack, as most commercially made “exercise foods” are packed full of refined sugar, additives, and chemicals.
The coconut oil gives it a more liquid consistency than plain nut butter, so be prepared for that!
Alternatively, if you are traveling or in a pinch and want to buy single serving packets similar to this, I highly recommend Wild Friends and you can buy them in many local grocery stores. These DO have added sweetener.
Makes 1 serving
2 T Almond Butter
1 T Coconut Oil
½ t Unsweetened cocoa powder
1 t raw, local honey (if not doing RESTART Program)
1 t Collagen Peptides (especially helpful when used before / during / after exercise)
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix, and enjoy!
